Consented hiring dossier vs people-search sites: why HR should not use people-finders

A people-search site (a people-finder) lets someone look up a name and browse aggregated records. That is open person-search. For HR teams, recruiters and hiring managers; each dossier is employer-ordered. CordPrism is not for open person-search, people-finder or skip-trace use, KYC, credit, CPR or criminal-record checks.

Two different categories

The table is category-level. It does not name brands.

Aspect Consented hiring dossier (CordPrism) People-search sites (category)
Who it is for For HR teams, recruiters and hiring managers; each dossier is employer-ordered. Anyone looking up a name
Purpose One defined hiring purpose, attested before the run Open lookup, not limited to a hiring file
Employer attestation CordPrism relies on the employer's attestation (who, when, scope, plus a confirmation checkbox), required before any run; it does not collect proof of consent. Typically none
Sources web and news search; public GitHub; information supplied by the employer, including public profile URLs you provide; limited public affiliation data; public social comments and mentions on networks such as Facebook, Instagram, X and Reddit, when public and available; and breach catalogs for employer-supplied emails, when available. We do not claim complete coverage, people-enrichment bureau data or court records. CordPrism reviews publicly available sources only; channels behind a login wall are skipped. Varies by site; often name-first aggregates
Identity matching Confidence-gated. Name-only hits stay collisions until a second identifier corroborates them. CordPrism correlates employer-supplied seeds (work email, LinkedIn or other profile URL, GitHub handle) with public profiles. Often a name or handle match with no second identifier
Output One sourced, dated dossier for the hiring file A lookup page, not a hiring-file record
Contact with the candidate CordPrism does not contact candidates. Varies by operator

Why name-only lookup is a hiring risk

Common names, namesakes and reused handles produce false matches. Confidence-gated. Name-only hits stay collisions until a second identifier corroborates them. Treating a people-finder hit as a finding can put the wrong person in the hiring file.

What CordPrism will not do

You may use the service only for lawful, employer-ordered, purpose-limited OSINT on a consented subject. Open person-search, skip-trace, KYC, and surveillance use are prohibited. Before any run the employer must complete the consent attestation and confirm the dossier is employer-ordered and purpose-limited; we may refuse requests (spam, abuse, missing consent, or lack of relevance).

CordPrism does not contact candidates. Data subjects can request access, correction or erasure via hello@cordprism.com.
